Harbermetal integrates prototype validation, mass production lines, upgrades sintering equipment, boosts operational efficiency and shortens lead times

DONGGUAN, GUANGDONG, CHINA, September 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Harbermetal, a full-service metal injection molding (MIM) manufacturer, has completed the integration of its prototype development division with its main mass-production plant, eliminating cross-facility operational bottlenecks and expanding its overall manufacturing capacity for custom precision metal components.
Previously separated prototype sampling and mass production teams created workflow delays, including equipment deployment waiting time, back-and-forth part transfer and repeated technical communication between sites. By centralizing prototype testing, mold trial, debinding, sintering and post-processing under one plant, Harbermetal streamlines the whole product development cycle from DFM review, prototype sampling to serial mass production.
The consolidation significantly improves equipment utilization. The newly installed Japanese Shimadzu sintering furnaces are fully integrated into the unified production workflow, supporting both small-batch prototype sintering and large-volume continuous mass sintering. This upgrade increases the factory’s overall MIM production capacity, shortens standard lead time from 35 days down to 25 days, and reduces overall project cost by 6%~9% for overseas buyers.
The unified manufacturing base covers feedstock compounding, mold fabrication, metal injection molding, debinding, vacuum sintering, heat treatment, secondary CNC sizing and surface finishing. More measuring and inspection equipment including CMM, carbon-sulfur analyzer, metallographic microscope and density test instruments are deployed on-site, enabling full in-house quality control according to MPIF 35, ASTM B883 and GB/T 26726 standards.
Customers can benefit from faster prototype validation, consistent process parameters transferred directly from sampling to mass production, and stable batch quality. The integrated setup is ideal for complex small MIM parts widely used in automotive hardware, consumer electronics, power tools, security locks and non-implant medical auxiliary components.
“Combining prototype R&D and mass production in one site is a key strategic upgrade for Harbermetal,” said Justin Lee, General Manager of Harbermetal. “Many global buyers struggle with inconsistent quality when prototype samples are produced separately from mass production. Our integrated workflow ensures the same material formula, sintering recipe and quality inspection standards are applied from the first article sample to full mass production. This eliminates the risk of process shift after tooling investment.”

Harbermetal Plans to Invest Over RMB 2 Million to Purchase 2 Magnesium Alloy Injection Molding Machines

Harbermetal announced that on August 16, the company placed a purchase order with Jielong Import and Export Trading Co., Ltd. to acquire two JSW-brand magnesium alloy injection molding machines at a total consideration of 51 million Japanese Yen (approximately 2.5 million Hong Kong Dollars).
According to the announcement, Harbermetal will pay 30% of the total amount as an advance payment within two weeks after signing the purchase order, and the remaining 70% will be settled upon machine delivery and installation. Jielong Import and Export Trading will deliver the machines in batches between April and May 2027, and provide a 12month warranty. Maintenance and replacement of defective components during the warranty period will be free of charge.
In 2023, Harbermetal built a new plant with a construction area of 1,200 m², focusing on mass production of small, complex, highprecision metal parts to serve sectors including commercial kitchenware, consumer electronics and automotive industries.
Harbermetal operates two modern production bases with fully closedloop manufacturing lines. Equipped with globally advanced Metal Injection Molding (MIM) equipment, and manufacturing processes, the company boasts full inhouse R&D and production capabilities for commercial automotive components. As a manufacturer serving worldrenowned automotive parts brands, Harbermetal is widely recognized as a core supplier of precision hardware such as automotive fittings, highend kitchenware locks and hinges.
Metal Injection Molding (MIM) is a manufacturing process for efficient production of complex miniature precision metal components and has gradually become a mainstream manufacturing option in the industry. Market attention toward MIM precision metal parts and Chinamade MIM metal injection molded components continues to rise.
Harbermetal will showcase its expanded MIM manufacturing capabilities and diverse material components including stainless steel, bronze, titanium and nickel alloy MIM parts at PM CHINA 2027 in Shanghai, Booth D47. Global engineers and procurement managers are welcome to visit the booth and discuss custom MIM projects.
